Wobbly impeller and noisy, noisy

The powerhead that I have is really making a lot of noise. The basic problem seems to be that the impeller shaft is terribly wobbly. It is just rattling up a storm and making far too much noise to actually be usable. I have taken it down because I can't actually use it.
I have read through the FAQs and have tried slowly moving the inside part in all directions to no avail.
The powerhead is not running on the wireless driver and is (was) on a 150G with 1/2" glass. I have tried with and without the "pegged" cover and still can't get it to run without wobbling and rattling.
Is there something that I am missing with this guy? Would love some suggestions to allow me to use this.

Thanks,
Mark

I am having the same problem and it would be nice if you replied here to save yourself the time of everyone having to email the same questions..

Being a discussion forum its simply to difficult to trach problems in this forum

I open a case file on anyone having problems so it is easy to track each individuals case. I can easily see the actions being taken and the progresss. Trying to track everything in different threads is just to confusing.
Also in e-mails I can deal in a more personal level with a customer who is having problems rather than deal with on-line screen names. Imagine a post with a screen name asking the status on a pump sent in for repair. Pump comes in with actual name. Now thats confusing.

I will continue to ask anyone with problems or service issues to address them via e-mail. Another reason is I do not always monitor the forum.

Icecap,
Completely understandable!! I really appreciate your customer service and hope that anyone contemplating purchasing your products sees the value in having great customer service with a company that stands behind their product. That is very rare in these times...

There is generally a small rubber washer at the end of the impeller. If this is worn out or not there at all as can happen during cleaning, then this makes a real racket as the impeller keeps jumping up and down within the shaft... You could try replacing the washer. Also small particles of sand in the impeller shaft can cause sever noise levels...

I would not advise trying anything not specifically designed for the VorTech pumps. I have been doing service on these for over a year and am not aware of any rubber washer where you describe. There is a red O-Ring which seals the nozzle to the frame but would not affect the operation. Best to send this in and let us sort out the problem and get it corrected.

fishaquaria-

It sounds like you are describing a regular impeller powerhead and not our special powerhead. Our pump does not function like any other pump on the market, so your advice does not apply in this case.

It turns out the issue was a bit more serious anyway. I received an email from them today which stated that the entire wet side was basically toast and needed to be replaced. Now I just have to talk to the guy who sold it to me that way. :(
