Won't you be my neighbor?

Nope, but theyre cool critters. I remember seeing them while diving in the Caribbean

I have one in my big tank. When we bought him he was about the size of a golfball, spines and all. Now he is almost as big around as a basketball.

I love watching him eat lol. Use some long tweezers or tongs to give him a piece of food and you can watch him walk the food to his mouth.

Be careful though, it hurts Sooooo bad when they sting you! Ours has got me and my husband both before.

New discovery - they will eat diatoms off the sand as well. They leave a clean swath on the LR as they move across...

They don't seem to have an appetitie for coral...they've done a remarkable job of avoiding a zoa colony while eliminating the diatoms and algae right next to it...

Yes, including spines lol.

I haven't seen ours eat corals and we have had him for about 5 years. He will park ontop of them and sit, but when he leaves the corals are intact.

He will however eat coraline algae. He loves it.

Our big urchin got his spines stuck in one of our large clams... The clam instinctively slammed shut! Neither clam nor urchin were happy. I separated them with a plastic tool and both seem to be fine now.
