Well the shipment came and I anxiously watched the clock at work until I could hit the airport and get my rock. Halfway to the airport I completely forgot my kid to pick up at school. Umm Just kidding. But it made the wait even longer. Got there paid the cash grabbed my three boxes and headed home to get the sand and rock in the tank.

Alot of life. So far we have spotted two gorrilla crabs. Two small sand sifting cukes a tiny urchin and what appears to be some sort of blood worm?

You will continue to see stuff. This is just the beginning. After about a day or two you will probably see some trunactes. You might see more gorrillas, and mantis, but with the bad comes the good. We found several cup corals. We've had our part 2 for about 2 weeks and Part 1 was put in about 2 months ago, and 3 days ago just saw an urchin for the first time. Happy hunting

Well ammonia got to .5 today did a 6 gallon water change. I can see more life. We found a clam as we were watching and all of a sudden it moved so that was cool. Found with a flashlight at night the hiding spot of 4 gorilla crabs. Those buggers are going to get a fizzy bath this weekend with a turkey baster. Also it seems a turbo snail came in the sand is cruising all over the rock snacking. We hear a clicking but have not seen if it is a pistol shrimp or a mantis. More than likely a mantis.

Slow down on changing water.....only change if it gets to 1ppm......changing when not needed will slow your cycle.....but that is ok too...

Sounds good I think it was really at 1.0ppm anyway because I went through the change and then looked at the test and it went to the 1.0 range. Looking forward to part two. Will have to inspect the rock better and get out the unwanted hitchhikers.

Well Found the mantis and he is stubborn and wont come out. Did manage to snag 10 bad crabbies. Probably more but keeping an eye on the mantis now....

Hmm... I did a water change today and its still popping up at 2.0 ppm

I have a 29 gal and changed about 14 gallons of water. Retested and it still shows at 2.0. Should I continue to change the water repeatedly to get it to less than 1.0 then wat and test again tomorrow?

Check each rock with your nose...you have something on the way out causing ammonia..like a sponge...produces a lot of ammonia.....when ya find it, scrape it off!

Never mind we smelled it. Wife almost gagged and said hurry up and scrape that stuff off.

Ammonia is getting better right now hovering around .75. We looked up the clam and its not a clam its a turkey mussel. Wife decided to name it Russel.

Lots of stuff come out at night alot of worm feelers , found two nudibranches that were grazing around the tank. The little urchin tends to hang out around Russel.
