Worm eating coral

i bought a rock yesterday with some green star polyps on it, this worm is eating the mat. anyone know a way to get rid of it that doesnt involve a crab? i have a mantis shrimp, they would be eaten. the visible part of the worm is about a millimeter thick and stretches out about 3cm. it doesn't seem to bother the mushrooms next to it, but they haven't unfurled yet, that could be why, possibly. thanks.

Keep an eye on it when the lights go out... it may come out further and youll get to see how big it really is. had one like that. waited patiently with scissors over the hole. after 30 mins it game pretty far out and i cut its head off. problem solved

That's a harmless peanut worm. They are beneficial detrivores.

Really? It was eating the coral base, I watched it taking bites out of it for a while. I decapitated it with an exacto knife
