Worm ID Good or bad?

Picked up a couple of extra hermit shells from my LFS and this was inside one of them. Wanna know what it is and if it's beneficial or not in a typical reef tank before I throw it in. If not I'm going to throw it out and boil the shells, wel I'll probably boil them anyways

Folks say he is a good guy. As far as "clean up crew", I guess he can help, but folks don't go out and buy them. To me they are unsightly and dont like them. Again, folks say they won't hurt anything. I have a Red Banded Coral Shrimp. When I see a big juicy bristle, I catch him with my tweezers and dangle him in front of shrimp. Good ole red will grab it and rip that little sucker in 2 an eat him up.

Well my hermits must of been starving because all 5 of them ganged up on the poor little guy as soon as I dropped him in. And hes nowhere to be found now so I think he's gone

An excellent part of the clean-up crew TBH, I don't know any others than get into the holes, nooks and crannies like these guys can. They are carrion and detritus feeders.

Not sure I've ever seen them for sale as they are so common in live rock. Whether or not you like the look of them, they are an essential part of a natural ecosystem. Just don't go and pet them.

You'll see a lot of posts where people hate them and are trying to get rid of them, but I've always liked them...if you have one you'll have a lot more soon though. If you turn the lights back on after they've been out for an hour or two (or shine a flashlight in the tank) you'll sometimes see them all over the place. They're a beast to remove anyways, better to learn to love em

I love my bristle worms. They are one of the best members of my CuC. I must have hundreds in my display. They eat almost everything that you can think of.
But if you do want to get rid of them, then arrow crabs or some wrasses will eat them.
