Worm (?) ID with Photo

I am not entirely sure if this is a worm. It certainly appears to be though.

Originally there were only three in this particular location...now they have multiplied. They do not move from this spot...only multiply. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Can you tell me about them? Good? Bad? Otherwise?

can't really give you an i.d. but I recall seeing something like that in my tank...Ijust let it be. didn't harm anything of mine. might not be what you have though. just something similar looking

oh, didn't see the part where yours were stationary. mine moved around everywhere. so, i guess we have something different. sorry i am of no help at all...

Looks like they have crowns at one end. One of the hardy types of beneficial, filter feeding feather dusters.

I am not sure if that is what they are. I will get a better photo. I have never seen featherdusters this high up from the substrate. They are located about midway up the tank on the caulking that seals the overflow boxes to the back glass. I will watch them also to see if they have any "feathers"

If the are what I think they are then I believe those FDs have a clearish crown with little red speckles.

you are totally right. after I posted I went down and looked at them more closely and they do have a small crown.

So, featherdusters they are!

No problem.
These types of FDs have calcareous tubes (unlike the soft ones that like to bury themselves in the sand and rock) and can often be found where there is a lot of water movement such as filters, sumps, overflows, etc. Helpful little filter feeders.
