worm in live rock???

In this new live rock there is a worm (?) or something sticking out of one of the rocks. It is about 1/2" thick and 3" long (at least what is out of rock) and it is moving with the current of the water. Not sure if it is alive or not. Just noticed it today. Wondering if anyone knows a link to some pics. So I can try to identify it. I would post pics but not sure how to do it. And the pics I took you can't really see it.

thanks for the link, did not see anything that looked at all like what I saw in the tank. I saw the "thing" not long after the lights came on, while I was feeding the fish. However, while I was in here on the computer it disappeared? Went back into the rock? Will look for it again tonight when the lights go off...
