Worm/Plant? ID

Saw this hanging out of a hole in a new piece of LR. After waving my hand around to create a current, it popped out. Pretty tiny, and it goes from skinny, to fatter, to very skinny, which almost looks like a root.

Is this a worm or a plant? The top (skinny) part looks white and black striped.

Sorry for the awful pic and explanation...not much to work with on this one.

That seems likely. Harmless little scavenger who'll eat gunk for you. Put him back and let him do his thing.
