Worried about my Clowns

Hi Guys,

I got 2 true percs last Friday. My tank finished cycle 4 weeks ago. The water quality is Good. PH=8.3, Temp 24.7C, NO2=0, NO3=0, Amm=0.
I also have 2 Banner fish and 2 yellow gobies introduced a week apart by species.

The Percs are WC about 2.5 inches long, look good and healthy. Vibrant colour and very active.

They dont appear to be feeding. I feed them twice a day. I only use frozen Brime & Mysis shrimp on alt days with a half cube of Emerald Entree added for Veg. I also offer dried Algee on a clip placed in every afternoon.

They taste the shrimp and then spit them out.

The percs have taken up residence at one end of the tank and I add the first feed at the other end to get the banner fish started before feeding at the end the percs are based.

The LFS that I got them from said they were fed on brime shrimp and they had no problem. They said the feeding issue would pass within a day or so but it hasn't.
They advised me to add a drop of garlic to the feed to make it more interesting.

Any suggestions or thoughts would be appriacated.

Also one other thing, one of them seems to spend an hour or so at the surface in the corner or the tank behind the OF box where the current is least. As if it was drinking from the surface.

Thanks

Derek

Derek, what size tank do you have and what kind of flow in the tank?
And the lighting?
Tell us more about your tank please and if you can, post a picture for us.
Gasping at the surface usually means lack of oxigenated water.
Do you have powerheads in the tank and if so how many?

simple... go buy baby brine shrimp. feed that for about a week. slowly introduce your desired food. i always use the same food from where clowns were purchased initially.

His fish are 2.5 inches long, I am not to sure he can feed them enough to make them happy, baby brine shrimp that is.
If he can find a SW store that sells live adult brine then I would suggest he get some.
The store he got them from was feeding brine, don't know if it was live or frozen however.

Hi finding Nemo,

The tank is 210 Ltr nett of LR. I have an overflow box flowing into a 45Ltr sump. There I have a V2 Skim 400 using a Rio 2100 pump. The flow goes into a bubble trap suspended 4 inches above the return res. The flow drops down into the return area then through another bubble trap (Foam). This is then pumped out to a UV unit and back on up the main tank. In the tank there is a 600 L/H power head positionedjust below the surface giving plenty of movement.

The lights are 30W tubes 1 day and 1 Blue

I will try and get a photo.

Hi Delb0y, I am not sure what the gallons is for your tank. But one thing I can tell you is you do not have near enough light for the tank. Even if it was a 20 gallon it is'nt enough.
When someone lets us know about the gallon equivelant we can go from there.
Will await the pic and go from there, once we see it we will be able to tell the gallons I think.

adult brine is not good. baby is alot better. of course it will satisfy them. thats like saying cyclopeeze is not good bec. its tiny.

lighting. he is fine with lighting if hes not growing corals. fish need minimal light. 60 wts is more than enough for a 20gal.

Hi Guys,

Should mention that I have refelctors mounted on lights. There are no corals just fish.

Derek

you are absolutely fine with lighting.

again. try to get the same food that the lfs was using. if not just go back to the store and buy same thing they are using.

good luck.
