Worried. Should I Purchase from TBS?

I just have a couple of them left and pretty soon they will be too big to hide in the holes in the rocks. Then it will be easy pickin'!
Just so you know, I found the opposite to be the case. The big ones were much more difficult to catch than the small ones. When they got larger, they rarely strayed onto the rocks anymore, preferring to hide under the rocks near the bottom. They were also much more cautious about showing themselves and rarely strayed into the open.

My experience only.

Thanks for the heads up Fountainhead. I'll keep that in mind. So far I have not been able to get at them. They are faster than all the others and more skittish.

Its a free country voice your opinion people! now back to balayer3switchguyck question, the majority of people seem happy with there purchases so I would take a shot at it. And if you do get some mantis shrimps I'll take them off your hands. I was going to order some live rock from TBS just for the Mantis and the creatures on the rock! good luck..

P.S. Can't we all just get along :)

i thought the "cut the head off the plastic water bottle and turn it around" trick was sweet. worked great, just needed to be left over night. all my crabs where gone in less than 2 days.

I never had much luck with the traps. Most of the times the good guys would go in first and then the bad guys would go in and kill the good guys.

I resorted to the wooded skews you can buy in a bag. Just sharpen the end to a fine point. Put a small tidbit of bait out and sit patiently, once the come out, a quick jab is all it takes.

OK
I have ordered here before like years before. rock was excellent. The only thing was that the rock was rounded kinda like boulders. Now I am setting up a new tank and want to buy here is it still the same?

I ordered rock from tbs about two years ago. After I got my first shipment i was very impressed with it untill all of the mantis shrimp and crabs started to apear. I had a hell of a time trying to get rid of them. After all of the troubles i had I never ended up getting in the second shipment of rock and critters. Its not worth the time and trouble of catching these critters. Bobby

You mean shrimps and crabs live in the nooks and crannies in the rocks in the ocean......go figure.

For those who want absolute trouble free and worry free live rock, try the Figi Ultra Show Super Mega Premium. No hitchhikers except maybe a few black rotting plants and some pretty purple coralline algae here and there.

Just to add a non sarcastic comment.....

The first time you setup a tank it is great to have all the varieties of life, some good and some bad, there is a never ending awe to the things you find and you'll be amazed at the countless hours you could spend looking. BUT ..........

As time goes on and you become more experienced your preferences may change to wanting more specific life in your tank and possibly specific placements as you try and create that perfect look you are attempting to achieve. At this point there is a lot to be said for the Ultra Show Super Mega Premium Rock that has nothing but coraline algae where you only put on it what you want and where you want it.

Just something else to think about.......

I'm going to try and order some liverock from TBS, I think the good out weights the bad with most of the comments on here. So if anyone in the NYC area wants to go half let me know ( I dont need a lot of rock :) )

As long as you don't go into this with blinders on, I'm sure you will be more than satisfied with your purchase. Yes, there is a good chance that you will be blessed with one or more hitchikers that may or may not be a pain to get rid of. The good outweighs the bad IMHO tough.

Please post some pics when you get your shipment!

Yep..... Like Bob said.

As long as you know what to expect you will be more than happy with the service and the rock.
