Worst reef book?

What's the worst reefing/ marine aquarium book you've ever bought? For me it was the Mini Encyclopedia For The Marine Aquarium by Dick Mills. It was published in 2004 and gives an in depth look at setting up a reef aquarium.... with a cannister filter... fluidized bed filter.... and N.O flourescent lighting. Unfortunately i followed the steps in this book when i started reefkeeping and the results were disasterous. Algae outbreaks, fish deaths etc etc. Anyway, enough about that.... what's the most useless book you ever purchased?

Little attention was paid to water movement. I had corals which perished under inferior lighting which the book led me to believe was sufficient. Fish deaths were probably due to instability caused by dead areas and lack of oxygen due to the lack of water movement. Add on top of that excessive nitrates (which the book also did not cover how to deal with and it was the tank from hell. I felt the equipment recomended in this book was outdated and inferior, especially given when it was published.

Just from the cover i get the feeling its for a fish only tank and by the sounds of it a not so good book for FO.

Reef and FO are differant but then again there not. Any fish should be kept in the same conditions you would want coral.

I don't know about useless, outdated perhaps. The copyright on this one is 1973, but it hasn't steered me wrong.

Actually the tank the book guides the reader through setting up
is a reef, complete with corals and other inverts.

I own the very same book, It has a very limited guide to fish, not to mention, it is lacking a guide to corals.

When I first started out I bought several different books before filling my tank and adding salt. Each one had it's limitations on info and made points that most here on RC would debate till the end, also, the different books contradicted eachother in different methods, fish and coral. It wasn't until I joined RC that I truly recieved up to date info and became less confused. However, I found the saltwater guide for dummies to be the most helpful in helping me to understand what's needed for a SW/Reef tank, the basics at least.
