Our schools are cranking out kids with educations on par with 3rd world countries and this is what the public schools spend time doing. I just wonder, what is the end game? What is the value? It's my role as a parent to educate my kids on moral issues, not the school's. I'm sorry, this is not public education. So much of the time spent in public school is such a huge waste, and this is just another example. That is my issue and of course, my opinion. What people who like to push the LGBT agenda need to realize, is that it is PUBLIC education. There are many members of the public who believe this is morally wrong.

If I were to come to your child's public school and start indoctrinating your child with my morals, would you be offended?

It's not, which is why I posted what I did. They are only using the animals as examples of genetic differences in multiple species.

They are using Nimo to keep a 5yo attention..good...bad... I guess that depends ..

I am a clownfish owner, a parent, a teacher and the sibling of a married lesbian couple. I realize that I may be in the minority here, and I realize that what I say is nothing more than my opinion... But I have no problem with this what-so-ever and I hope that more is done to show young people that differences are not evil. If this program saves one LGBT young person from physical or emotional violence, I think it was worth it.

It is my belief that the history of social issues has a progressive trend in the country and that LGBT issues are the civil rights issue of our time. It makes me proud that my daughter is growing up in a household where differences are embraced and hopefully in a state where my sister's marraige will soon be recognized as I believe it should be.

As I said, these are just my opinions.

...but they're not simply teaching that bigotry isn't right, and of course it's not right. That's the FIRST lesson in Christianity: love your neighbor. They're teaching that these "lifestyles" are morally acceptable and equivalent. Do you see the difference?

You are right on a number of levels here. It is the responsiblity of parents to teach whatever morals, values etc. that they believe.

However, the bullying that is leading to young people chosing to take their own lives is taking place by and large in the schools. It is the school's responsibilty to take measures to ensure the saftey of their students... We can agree or disagree with what they are doing to address it... but I think it is absolutely necessary that something be done.

I would argue (I am a teacher) that it is a schools job to teach math, science, English and social studies... But if we are not turning out students who are decent people, what does it matter what they know about geometery?

Dan I guess it really hinges on whether or not you believe homosexuality is a choice or is the way people are born as to whether its a morality issue. I don't believe that they are teaching these children to be gay, the end game is to teach them that hating someone based on their sexual orientation is wrong, and it is.

Well, the dinky little suburb school that I graduated from had a student commit suicide recently due to bullying (at least in part). He was bullied because he was small and wasn't a football player. I agree, some level of education on the effects of bullying in general is warranted, but what is happening in CA is a very specific kind of education with a very specific agenda. EDIT: The kinds of things that kids are cruel to each other in middle school are not sexual orientation. I remember zero incidences of kids being bullied because they were gay. I remember 1000 incidences of bullying for myriad other reasons. Which brings me to my point about it being an agenda.

I'd like to add that this has been a very civil discourse. OT, of course, but civil.

Well this is what I agree with..the 70's fat kids the 80's geeks and the 90's Emo kids got it just as bad as the gay kids..The only difference is those other kids do not have a billion dollar lobby fighting for them..
