Worth the upgrade?

right now I'm running 2 x 175w MH over my 55 with 2 x 96w PC's. I have a bunch of sps that I got from Dr. Mac. They were under 400w MH over there. I'm running out of room toward the top of my tank. So I was thinking of switching to 2 x 250w MH. I could just by some simple Ballasts and caps and swap from the ones I have there. and then upgrade the bulbs.

Is it worth the jump to 250's or should I wait a while and move to 400's? I would rather not have to use a chiller. So the 250's make some more sense, but is 160w more worth the effort?

What is the height of your tank? Two 250's over a 55 is plenty suffecient, so I don't think you need to get 400's. That 160 watts more probably penetrates considerably more than the 175's. which I think makes it worth it.

yup, 175 to 250 is a huge difference.

Its a standard 55. So I guess I'll look into the upgrade to the 250's. Thanks guys!
