Would 2x 6000 + 7095 be overkill for 60 gal mixed reef?

Hi Roger,

I'm planning to upgrade my circulation. Currently I have 2 Koralia + 2 Eheim 1260 & 1262 doing return and closed loop respectively, and I still can't seem to get enough circulation. The Koralia 4 gives me a wide spread but can't push water for more than 2' and my tank is a 4 footer.

Anyhow, I'm looking at the combo of dual 6000 + controller 7095. Based on the research I've done, they might be overkill? But I know I can dial back on the pumps, correct? I plan to do SPS on top, LPS and softies on the bottom with no sand.

Another question would be does the 6000 have a wider spread than the nanostream 6055? I realize that the nanostream would probably look better in a 60 gal... but I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of aesthetic for the sake of coral health.

call me crazy but I'm also considering the wavebox... since the specs states that an aquarium as small as 52 gal could accomodate it? Pls shine some light on this issue, because I've seen a wave box doing a 2 foot wave (ok I'm exaggerating) in a pals 150 gal so I'm kinda scared. But I love the effect of the waves of the wavebox.

thanks for your time.

The smaller the tank the smaller the wave, small tanks may work with the wavebox but the results are not as impressive.

The 6000 has a wider flow, about 2ft in diameter compared to roughly 18" for the 6055. I really think the 6055's are more appropriate but because the tank is bare bottom the 6000's will probably be fine as well.
