Would an adult yellow tang swim trough a 4" pipe?

I'm thinking about joining 2 tanks with a 4" diam pipe and I would like the fishes to be able to swim from one tank to the other. Would a yellow tang be able to pass trough or 5" would be a minimum? I know they can mesure up to 8 " but how tall they get?

A fish habit-trail...I think you would have to teach it swim back and forth between tanks, some fish are like cats I caught a 4" Raccoon butterfly in a mantis trap. He wedged himself in diagonally plus what diameter are you talking about OD or ID?

ummmm opposite answers. I agree 5" or 6" would be a better choice. Drilling a 6" hole in a 12" high tank would be risky though :)

Yellow tangs are about as tall as they are long (and that's with their fins clamped). Adults get like 8", so how a 5" or 6" pipe is better than 4" I'm not sure

If there is food on the other end, it will certainly try to go through - if it has grown to full adult size it will not fit.

Ok, from pictures it seemed to be half tall as long. No worries since nothing is built yet. Back to the drawing board :) Thanks for your time.

i have seen one that had square holes in acrylic. the logic being IMO, stronger bond. it was a 300 gallon tank, 200 in the center with 50g on each end. if not mistaken it was around $15,000 complete reef set-up. it wasnt very appealing though, i didnt see 15K in it. REEF-ON!!!
