What if you could measure your fish and coral without putting your hands in the water? What if you could just press a button and have, say, 1" or 2" show up on whatever subject you would aim the measuring device at?

I often times see people picking up their fish/coral and holding a ruler, quarter, other objects for size reference and was thinking how stressful it would be.

Would you want a device to make it easier?

Not really. I think it would only benefit the person using it. The ruler, Quarter, etc that your referring to means your selling a coral. People that are buying like to see that visual reference IMO.

I was thinking of it also being used in marine biology departments, fisheries, etc anything where measuring something becomes an ordeal instead of a simple task.

That wouldn't be "the hobby" then, no?

In that respect, large scale aquaculture, marine biology departments, stores that sell online, etc it might come in handy (still not sure if the cost would justify it for a lot of these organizations).

But for anyone who's just a hobbiest, no the cost really wouldn't be worth it imo.
