I have a 72 gal bow front reef tank "see pics in my gallery is you wish" with sump/fuge filter. I am considering putting a snow flake eel in the tank. I currantly have for fish a Ocellaris clown, Green Mandarin, Firefish dartfish, and a Midass blenny, Blood red fire shrimp and a skunk cleaner shrimp and various crabs and snails. I do know that both of the shrimp and most likely crabs ,snails will be eating if they are not removed. So i will be puting the cleaner shrimp in the sump/fuge. And the blood red will go to a different tank. So the question i have is if i put the SFE in will i have to much bio load for the tank? And will the snow flake eel bother any of the fish i have in thier allready? Also will the 72 be big enough for the eel? I have seen them get as big as three feet.

I currently have a Niger Trigger, Cinnamon Clown, Lunar Wrasse, Yellow Tang and a Snowflake Eel in a 72. The eel will get big but on Marine Depot thier minimum tank size for a SF is 55g. They aren't big swimmers so they don't need a huge tank. The main prob you may have is an eel "might" eat anything that he can fit in his mouth, so the smaller fish (firefish) might be dinner as well as the inverts.

On a lighter note, I love my snowflake and would reccommend getting one. They are very fun to watch.

And I love any opportunity to show him off!

This pic is an older one, he's a little camera shy. When I got him he was about 5" and in 2 and 1/2 months he's about 10".

you want to stay away from hotdog shaped fish when it comes to eels, so i would say the only one that would be 99% guaranteed safe would be the clown, everyone else is potentially lunch.
i love eels but they do best with larger tankmates that the cant eat, but the tank mates need to be passive enought not to esat the eel. i know there are many members on this forum with sucess stories of keeping eels with small fish and shrimps, but these are exceptions to the norm. it is great that they were able to go against nature's law and succeed, but i do not suggest following in their footseps if you value your other fish.
