would this gate valve kit work?

This is the skimmer I just ordered and received...I will be using it on the 180 gallon reef I am setting up...

I am just THINKING about doing the gate valve mod to it, but I am not really all that handy, so I found this already-put-together-mod-kit... just wondering if anyone can tell if it might wok on this skimmer or not...

I thought the gate valves were only used on the recirc skimmers?

this is apparently almost the same skimmer as the Coralvue Octopus NW 200 skimmer , it is the Pacific Coast Imports version ,and lots of people have done a gate valve mod on it to have better control over the water height..do a search for Octopus NW 200 mods....

anyone? I measured and my water return pipe measures 2" across the top so maybe the kit for 2" euroreefs would be better...?????

No - I use a gate valve mod on my ASM G3 venturi skimmer.

From the looks of the PS-3000 in the picture it would help to have a gate valve mod on it - it would make it easier to adjust.

As for which kit - you want to make sure you know the size of the output piping from the skimmer. And really - you don't need any real skills in DIY to make the mod yourself. I did mine quickly and did not even use any glue to hold it together.

It works fantastic just by sticking the PVC together.

can you give me the details of how you did it and the parts you need...the thing about the euro kit is it is all ready to install. LOL I just don't have much confidence in my plumbing DIY ability...
