Probably been overfeeding and testing with a lousy test kit. My new colorimeter shows it's embarrassingly high. (2.4 - ouch!)I have granular phosphate removal media in a forced flow canister (2 little fishies) but my question is how often will I need to change the media and how long should I expect to take to get it down to a near zero reading? Does it become saturated very quickly? I already do 50 gal water changes q 2 weeks on a 180 gal tank with RODI water and Tropic Marin Pro Reef salt. Any other suggestions?

OK - that makes sense. Probably change the GFO weekly with water changes to get it down where I want it. What about using something like Brightwell Phosphate remover or Blue Life remover as well? Sounds like it gets the levels down faster by precipitation and subsequent skimmer removal. I know not to make changes to quickly. Any advice? Thanks.

Most of the current gfo's on the market today work pretty good.

I have not tried the Brightwells and currently use PhoSar by Warner Marine. This works quit well for me.

You can save cash and buy from www.bulkreefsupply.com --- a LOT of folks use their GFO and it works fine.

Personally a big refugium (and i mean as big as you can get) loaded with chaeto is my standard answer b/c it works.

Also, be sure you are using RO/DI for your water top-off and water changes.
