I just got a fairy wrasse a few weeks ago thats like and inch and a half and just today I noticed my fire shrimp is gone. Is it possible my fairy wrasse ate him? also I have an aptasia problem and want to get some peppemint shrimp but need to know everyones thoughts first.

kill it, may be.. but i would doubt it ate it all

my fairy wrasses has never messed with my purple lobster, peppermint shrimp, or sally light foot crab

Ok it must of died of natural causes then. I feel better about getting peppermint shrimp, I hope they kill my damn aptasia problem.

Are you sure your fire shrimp is dead? IME they are pretty shy and usually nocturnal.

Ya , everytime I feed my tank he would come out from the caves and grab food

I agree with Bambalam; my experience with fire shrimp is that they are very shy and nocturnal; maybe the addition of the new fish spooked him. a fire shrimp would probably be a bit much for an inch&half wrasse; they also like slightly cooler water, has your temp changed any?

My tank runs at 78-80 and has never changed. I would see the fire shrimp everyday and like I said before he would come out each and everytime I fed my fish and grab food. Everyone is saying no to the wrasse killing it so I dont know why the hell it died. Just might be natural causes

I did have an issue last tuesday I took out palys with a tweezer because they were growing on my candy canes and the toxins from it bleached the middle of a huge colony of tubs birdsnest so Im thinking this might be the culprit?? who knows

I doubt the palys killed the shrimp, although I suppose it's possible.

I suspect that your shrimp has molted and is either hiding until it's new shell hardens, or it molted and was eaten by something in your tank while it was a softshell. I've had this happen to a small coral banded shrimp and two peppermints (a !#%T$%@@# royal gramma ate them, he was the only fish in the tank).

I now have a second tank with a coral banded shrimp in it, with ONLY a small goby and a ton of frags, and the cb shrimp is doing great.
