wrasse compatability ?

I'm interested in this answer as well. I have a Halichoeres leucoxanthus and am interested in seeing if a Melanarus would be compatable...tagging along.

I'm not sure about those two exactly. I have a Six-Line Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia) with a Yellow Wrasse (Halichoeres chrysus) and they don't bother each other at all. So, they may be fine.

I have done it before but I had my melanuras first. As I've seen the chrysus is a little more aggresive and should come into play last. Otherwise introduce the two at the same time. Also you have to have a considerable amount of space for the two to coexist.

I also will mention the sizes of the two. My melanarus was almost 5 inches while the chrysus was around 3 1/2 inches. I'm going to be truthful there was some MINOR fighting between the two for the first few days. Durring these days the coloration went down but both of them regained color. Had the two together for a year and a half before my system crashed due to a power outage. Pumps died and I lost everything but salvaged a few corals. Thats all I can put in. Hope it helps.

Matt, thanks for your input..thats what i was looking to hear..
The Melanarus has been in the tank for a couple of months.
i think my tank will be large enough for both of them, plenty of rock to hide in.
sorry to hear your system crashed

I just added a H. melanurus a few weeks ago with my existing H. leucoxanthus. and they are doing just fine together. The melanurus is larger than the leuc. and I have seen it show signs of aggression about once a week, but its nothing really that big, more like they got to close to one another. It is usually just a quick jerk towards the yellow and the yellow darts off. I have no worries about the two of them being real problems, agression is almost non-existant. Just thought I would update this thread for anyone interested.
