There are some exceptions to the general rule about wrasses being jumpers and/or eating inverts. Leopard wrasses generally aren't jumpers, and will typically leave larger ornamental shrimp alone, such as fire shrimp. Keep in mind, however, that fish are like people in the respect that they all have individual characteristics that might be the exception to the rule.
Also, leopard wrasses really aren't beginner fish. An eight-line wrasse would be a much better choice as far as being hardy, staying relatively small, and eating anything offered with gusto.
