Melanurus female or Kallochroma or???

Oh that's a good one. Any idea where it may have been collected?

It cannot be H. melanurus, as the stripe anterior to the eye is a double stripe (H. melanurus has a single stripe anterior to the eye, and bifurcates posterior to the eye).

H. kallochroma looks to be the most correct.

Don't know where it was collected....bought it from a guy that was shutting down his tank for a ridiculous price:rolleyes:.....
anyone else idea's??

I'd also look at Halichoeres cosmetes as i've seen them with a very similar base colour, or at least mine is but i'm by no means confident on that.

That's one I didn't even think of, as I traditionally associate them with whitish bellies, but now that I look you've convinced me. The facial markings are spot on for H. cosmetus. (sidenote: the facial markings go a long way when ID'ing any Halichoeres).

Halichoeres cosmetus, final answer. :)
