Wrasse ID

I would say 8 line....either Red Sea or off the coast of Africa ...might check the coloration a little closer with Picts online and you can usually figure out where they are from...also let him get a little acclimated and his colors will be more vivid.

Not an eightline flasher wrasse, Paracheilinus octotaenia, but rather an eightline wrasse, Pseudocheilinus octotaenia. The flasher is a peaceful reef safe wrasse, the Pseudocheilinus gets aggressive as it matures and may go after motile inverts.

The range of eightline flashers is restricted to the Red Sea and the coast just beyond. Its limited range means there are no reginal color variation.

Yup, eight line wrasse (Pseudocheilinus octotaenia). Very cool fish that you really don't see as often as you'd assume. They're kinda the awkward middleman between a mystery and sixline wrasse I guess, but I think they're beautiful (but not quite beautiful enough for me to lose my shrimp)

does he really go after shrimp? That's to bad if he does i was really looking forward to keeping him.
