wrasse ID

LFS has this one for ten bucks, labeled asst wrasse. Terrible pics but you guys always nail these ID's...

I just returned one that turned out to be a pylei, and it didnt look like this. Ventral fins were different and this one is way more red with that lighter belly. What gives it away as a pylei? I am trying hard to learn to ID these younger wrasses, it is not easy. Thanks for your input.

That lemonpeel was really comical, he was darting in front of the wrasse and spoiled about 7-8 pictures!

Anyone else have input as to the ID of this wrasse?

It's a Cirrhilabrus rubripinnis.

Just curious why you returned the pylei? Curious if you had the same experience with 1. I've got mine back in a holding tank, mine was a little brat towards other wrasses.

We all are reef builders (put reef and builders into your browser) and you'll go to a site with a lot of pics and info when you search wrasses.

I returned it because I ordered a pink margin and that was the one that was sent. I did not keep it because I have found the wrasse guide Evolved wrote to be spot on and he wrote they are almost always aggressive to other flasher and fairy wrasses.

Thanks TJ. Looks like that's not the best looking wrasse and can be mildly aggressive to other fairy wrasses.

That he is in that. You won't be disappointed in a pink margin.
