This was bought as a carpenters flasher but am i right in saying yellowfin Paracheilinus flavianalis?

Yes to P. flavianalis. I find most time LFS don't know the species, they label them as Carpenter's. My C. lubbocki was labeled as a Carpenter's...

They buy them as assorted wrasses,half the time they don't even know if they have a flasher or fairy and there's no way they could ever ID a flasher. Did you get a good price on him?
