The Helfrichi pair I purchased in the spring are doing great. I am now looking for a pairs of Scott's fairy wrasse(Cook Islands only) and/or Rhomboids. Anything in the works?
Thanks-
Rich
Thank you for your inquiry to Drs. Foster and Smith. We are contacting our Aquaculture Coral and Marine Life Facility to obtain answers for you. We will post our response.
Thank you for your patience while we obtained this information for you. We sincerely apologize. Unfortunately, we do not have any pairs of the Scott's Fairy Wrasse or The Rhomboid Wrasse available. We recommend signing up for our Diver’s Den email alert. This will notify you daily when new items are added. Please contact us with any other questions or concerns.
Perhaps you can help me here. I am set on a Cook Islands Scott's Fairy Wrasse for my 120 reef. I do not wish him to lose his color- would getting a female Fiji keep him interested? I realize there is no guarantee- but you have both of these available. OR would getting a large Cook Male and a sub adult Cook male be a wiser choice? What do your experts say?
Thank you for your post about our beautiful Scott’s Fairy Wrasses. Males may behave aggressively towards members of their own species and sex. Therefore, it may be advisable to house one only male fairy wrasse of a given species to be kept in the same tank.
Although in some species color loss can be attributed to improper diet, in male Fairy Wrasses chromatic changes appears to be the result of a lack of interactions with conspecifics. It is possible if these fish are not kept in small groups (with one male and several females), the males color, and possibly his gender, will begin to revert back to that of the female.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
