wrasse problem

Every wrasse that I've tried, with the exception of a sixline and a mystery wrasse all seem to wither away and die. They get thinner and thinner and then eventually die. I only feed once a day, to every other day. Am I starving them? I sold the 6 line and the mystery, so it's not an aggression issue. It has happened to a few flashers and now a male flame wrasse. Sucks.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I did not QT the fish (I know, I know). Is it possible that there is a parasite of some sort in my tank? All fish eat actively then die overnight. It usually takes several months for this to happen.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

If they are just getting thinner and thinner, with no other signs, then they probably are not getting enough food. I would feed everyday, if not multiple times a day.

Watch your Mystery wrasse closely- they can be aggressive to other wrasses. Be sure he is not stressing the new wrasses into starvation. Also, feed wrasses daily.

Have had the same thing happen to two McCoskers wrasses and a Solar Wrasse. The solar and one of the McCoskers came from phishy business and the other McCoskers came from the divers den. All three ate like pigs from the moment I got them. The McCoskers both lasted a couple of months and the Solar lasted for over a year in my care.

All fish were quarantined and treated with Prazi-Pro and copper and I made sure they were all eating well and what I normally call "fat and healthy" before introducing them into my display tank.

If you find an answer to this please let me know as I really want another solar and another one of my favorite fish ever the McCosker flasher.

forgot to add the Solar was paper thin minutes away from death and came up to the top of the tank to get some mysis before going back and laying down to die. Never seen anything like it in 20 years of keeping fish.

Rosy is very aggressive from my experience. It took out my Hawaiian flame.

Yes, feed your wrasses at least 2x a day if not more. I feed my tank 3-4x due to angel and butterfly.

Wrasses need to eat many times per day. Lots of little feedings. Are you getting all the wrasses from the same place? Where are they getting them from? Could be a collection or disease issue, but I would up the feedings before exploring that. If you can't feed more than once per day and you don't have anything in the tank they can live off then don't buy more wrasses.

If they feed on flakes or pellets then buy an automatic feeder.

I've also heard Rosy to be aggressive, but I must have gotten the mellow ones. My pair of Rosy's get along super with my pair of flames. I find them sleeping in the same place together every night.

I feed my wrasses once per day and they've been growing like weeds. My only experience with the wasting away was almost certainly due to internal parasites. I have personal experience that one praziquantel treatment does not always completely de-worm fish.

The fish have all come from different sources. My guess is that the mystery and 6 line I sold did well because they are such aggressive eaters. I'm going to look into an automatic feeder, as I work and travel quite a bid. I do have a small fuge and tons of pods, but my guess is that they were not getting enought to eat.

That is good to know. I will up the ante on prazi-pro next go round.
