went to my LFS and they still have a M. Meleagris and a H. Melanurus. both are eating flakes and pellets so im really interested in both. can i put one or both in my 75? i have a sixline but he is peaceful to all other fish. tank is 1.5 years old and lots of pods. ive been trying to find some last fish for the 75 thatll swim in the water column, currently i have mostly damsels that hide, and i fell in love with both of these guys. thoughts?

if i cant put one or both in the 75 becasue of aggression issue could i put one/both in a 55 with a 3" niger?

I have both in a 58g tank that get along great, no aggression at all. With that said, I'd never put either in with a 6-line. It may not be aggressive to the current fish, but that doesn't mean it won't harrass a new wrasse. I have no experience with triggers.

A 2L soda bottle with it's favorite food in it, might work. Both of these fish are great jumpers by the way, make sure the tank is WELL covered.

hmm i might try that.

well talked to my mom and shes not sure if she wants to put both wrasses in the 75 (already have a yellow tang, sixline, coral beauty, blue damsel, yellowtail damsel, purple firefish) so im stuck on the fence. would you get the melanurus or the meleagris? the meleagris looks nicer imo but its more skittish right?

I would choose the meleagris, but it is much harder to keep alive long term than the melanurus. Your chance of success is pretty good though, because it is already eating flakes and pellets.

and i have a good chance with the meleagris with a sixline? the meleagris is slightly bigger that the sixline. i cant rearrange the rock or catch the sixline.

should i QT the meleagris and if so anything special about them? would it be best to skip QT and get the meleagris in the DT asap but put him in an acclimation box to see how the sixline will react to him?

Sorry, I forgot you have a sixline wrasse. If your sixline is anything like the one I used to have, it's a bad idea. My sixline killed 4 other wrasses which were added after he was established. The acclimation box might work, but it would be best if you could get the sixline out. As suggested above, I would try trapping him.

ya lol. so far he isnt aggressive to other fish but he does flash his colors at his reflection i think. any idea where i can get a fish trap, or a diagram on how to make one?

if i can't get the sixline out, would the melanurus be the better wrasse because its not as sensitive?
