Wrasse/shrimp compatibility

So one of my favorite critters was my skunk shrimp. I went on vacation and came back to him being MIA. I added my wrasses a little over a month ago. So could he have just died of old age or is it likely it was a wrasse? The shrimp was large and I had him for about 2 years.

Orange shoulder
Exquisite
Royal

I don't want to get more shrimp if ther will be fish food

Flasher/fairy wrasses don't really go after shrimp, IME. If you had a mystery wrasse or 6 line, maybe, but even then it's usually smaller shrimp like peppermint they tend to go after.

On that note, you stated you went on vacation, how long did you go away? They may have got hungry. Just my 2 cents. Anything is possible.

i had a Carpenter's flasher wrasse, very similar to McCosker's, for a while and he never bothered my skunk cleaner shrimp.

how long did you have your cleaner? as i understand it their typical lifespan is only 2 - 4 years.

regardless, sorry to hear of your loss. they pack loads more personality than i ever imagined a shrimp could.
