please help me stock my 120g (48" x 24" x 24") with wrasses... I like HI Flame, Rhomboid, Lineatus, Laboutei, Hooded, and a flasher, Red sea 8 Line... other fishes will be a pair of clowns and a tang... :)

I was thinking this:

- HI Flame pair
- Rhomboid pair
- Lineatus pair
- Male Hooded
- Male Laboutei
- Male Red sea 8 Line

what do you guys think? in what order should I add them?

Thanks again...

Well, first of all, I would skip the clowns. Once mature, they will be aggressive and your fairy wrasses are expensive and clowns are cheap (except a couple of OZ species). I would reconsider the red sea 8 line flasher wrasse as it is relatively aggressive. Pairs are nice, but remember that the females are the aggressive sex in fairy wrasses. Rhomboids and Lineatus are relatively gentle as are C. bathyphilus.

thanks for the insight Steve? what would your recommend then? just stick with maybe a harem of HI Flames (3:1) and just get a male Rhomboid, Lineatus, and Hooded? will that be better in the long run? will the Rhomboid, Lineatus, and Hooded lose a lot of their coloration without a female?

If it were me, I would get 4 HI flame wrasses and let the most dominant evolve into a supermale. I would get a pair of Rhomboids (the females are gorgeous and not as aggressive as others). I would probably get a pair of hooded (C. bathyphilus) but only a male Lineatus. These fish will lose very little if any coloration. I would then look at flasher wrasses and try and get a harem of your favorite. If you have a refugium, I might also consider one of the leopards e.g. a male or female M. bipartus

hmmmm... awesome suggestion... :) :)

which ones should I add first? how long should I wait in between additions? just wanna make sure none of the males establish their dominance before adding other males... does that make sense?

I've read Rhomboids are less aggressive so should I look into adding these first... they are also the hardest to find... if I can only find one Rhomboid, can I add a female later down the road? or what if only a female is available?
