Last night as we sat down for dinner I had done the usually stuff, fed the reef and check if the kids actually used soap when they washed for dinner (especially with the staff infection going around the school, we wont get into that here). The fish were all eating like they had never been fed before. I watched my Clown Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus solorensis) swimming with the big guys (tangs and foxface) eating like normal, all seemed fine.
Then about 3 minutes later my oldest son says "oh know, a fish just died" I look up and there is the wrasses drifting end over end lifelessly accross the tank. He came to rest right on top of my torch coral. He laid there a moment, then twitched landing right under the torch. I could see the serpent stars getting active from this apparent kill on the reef so i ran and grabbed a net. My wife and kids are watching him and telling me he was still alive but breathing heavy so I hoped that i could get him out and move him to the fuge to better evaluate the situation but before I could get him he twitched again and fell behind the rocks. Well... I thought... he's starfish food now. I searched for a while with a flashlight but never saw him again.
I get a call about an hour ago form my wife, she tells me that he is out acting like nothing happened! He's usually the last out in the morning anyway.
So... I think maybe he took a hit from a tang or a spike from the foxface it was a feeding frenzy and he gets right in the middle of it. He has no marks on him from any contact that she can tell at this point.
Any ideas?
