wrasse tail missing

smalltime

I had a wrasse come up missing his tail, completley gone. He was being housed in a 20g qt tank for a week with a vlamingii, sailfin and a fox-face. I did(the 20g qt)because a friend took down his system and his tank was nasty. I wanted to treat the fish before adding to my display.
Will the fish make it? Anything I can do to help it heal?

If it is just the fin of the tail and/or it is still able to swim I think it will recover just fine. If it isn't already make sure to get it in the display ASAP and get your parameters as close to optimum levels to help him heal.

Personally I also use Aqua Plus when one of my fish has fin damage but fish make their own protective coats, it just makes me feel better :)

I had something happen to my Johnsoni Wrasse wher his tail was completely chewed away and he was injured on his head. I thought he was a goner for sure but within a few weeks he healed back up and his tail grew back even better than before. I think as long as you have good water quality you will be fine, hopefully the fish isn't so stressed out it it hides and stops eating.

Exactly. Usually they will heal, perhaps 90% of the time.

Fish died yesterday. It couldn't swim. I never would have placed that many fish in qt but didn't have a choice. The rest of the fish are happy and healthy. I still don't know who chewed his tail off.
Thanks for the help
