Wrasse with Orchid Dottybacks?

I have an 80 cube with Percs, pair of orchids, and a pair of cardinals. I'd like to add a wrasse to replace my mean 6-line. The 6-line terrorized the dottybacks. Is this going to be a problem with other wrasses? do OD's and wrasses not mix well.

thanks

I am actually more worried about the wrasses bother the Fridmaniis. My pair seems to be wimpy.

Wrasseguy - have you had more problems with wrasse aggression or dottyback aggression?

suggestion: ask specific questions regarding the species you wish to keep together. The vast majority of Dottybacks are moderately to extremely aggressive- with fridmanii being one of the passive exceptions.
Ditto with Wrasses- most Paracheilinus and Cirrhilabrus Wrasses aren't going to bother an Orchid Dottyback like a 6-line Wrasse might.

Thanks for the suggestion.......though if you read my original post I am not sure your suggestion is entirely necessary. I do appreciate the information about Paracheilinus and Cirrhilabrus Wrasses.

Please note that I stated Orchid dottyback (commonly accepted name for the Pseudochromis fridmanii) several times in the original post and title. I believe the dottyback species was clearly indicated.

With regard to the wrasse, the question is clearly general in nature with the intent to solicit a response such as "most Paracheilinus and Cirrhilabrus Wrasses aren't going to bother an Orchid Dottyback like a 6-line Wrasse might". Thank you, that is very helpful.

I suppose I could have made it even more crystal clear by saying - Which species of wrasses mix well with a pair of Pseudochromis fridmanii?

i guess i should read better..but yes the orchid dottybacks are one of the more passive and i have heard people keeping fairys and flashers with them and they won't bother the dottybacck it is the other way around...but i agree with Gary a wrasse like the sixline or others in that family might bother the Orchids

I thought you might agree :)

here's a related thread:

that's a good thread. with the variation in behavior of the popular and ubiquitous Cirrhilabrus behavior, it would really good to start a similar ranking for that genus. I'd do it, but have no experience to share.

Orchid dottybacks will normally coexist with fairy wrasses. BUT it is the only dottyback that will.

As far as aggression in the Cirrhilabrus, I think there was a thread a long time ago on that. In general the females are more aggressive than the males.

I am planning on putting a pair of Indigo dottybacks with a couple of fairy/flasher wrasses. From what I have read the ORA indigo dottybacks are even less aggressive than the orchids. The indigos are a cross between an orchid and striped (sankeyi).

I am not planning on adding fish to my tank for another few months but when I do I will keep everyone informed.
