Wrasses and sand bed

I have a Labouti wrasse heading my way and he will spend a few weeks in my Q-tank that currently has a black sand bed of a coarser size than the sugar sized aragonite bed in my DT. It looks to be in the 1-2mm range. Will this be OK or should I swap out the black sand with some new aragamax sugar sand I have in storage?

Egg Crate is not an acceptable cover for preventing wrasse jumping. Go to Lowes/Home Depot/whatever and find someone to help you use window screening to make a cover.

Wrasses will bury themselves if stessed. The sand usually should be soft and not too coarse. Fairy's will sleep and hide in the rock work of the DT as well. And jumper they are for sure.

Some wrasses NEED sand to survive, most notably leopard wrasses, others want it but can survive without it, like radiant and christmas, and others don't seem to really care, like fairy/flasher.

fairy and flashers do not burry in the sand and the op was asking about a fairy wrasse..when stressed the hide in the rocks and sleep there at night as well
