Do you have a green water problem?

Other than clearing that up, UV's won't do much. They won't stop parasites like ich and I don't think they contribute anything to water quality other than clearing waterborne algae blooms.

I understand you buddy. I was looking for one for a long time also.

I've found a few, but most are asking WAY too much for their used UV with $50 consumable bulb. The ones that are priced in the range they should be get snapped up in minutes!

Anyway, still looking!

I missed out on the one from Zibba. That was a deal that was snapped up quickly.

I got one a 57W for $225 shipped. It is in fairly good condition but I have to soak in vinegar for a due to build up on the sleeve. I saw the construction of these things and have no idea of why it is so expensive. But at least, mine came with adapters and valves so it saved me a few dollars.

If I could find a dirty one with a working transformer and a good seal on the quartz sleeve for $225 shipped I'd be a happy camper! The last guy wanted $300, I offered him $250 because he said it was a "newer" bulb. He decided to keep it.

Thanks for the heads up! I've actually been using pretty much only muriatic acid for cleaning tank stuff for the last 8 months since I moved to this house with a pool. I always have gallons of it sitting around.

Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to find a used UV so I'm going to get a new one when the Labor Day sales hit if I don't find the used one by then.
