WTB 40B or 75

I think Petco is running the $1/gal and Jenn mentioned they even called out the 40B this time. Expect to pay taxes on the full price, though. Not sure how that's legal, but...

Yeah the petco I'm Opelika has a ton of them. Let me see if I can find an overflow kit. I would need help drilling it though. (wink)

If you are going to need to drill it anyway, you might want to consider a horizontal overflow.

Can these Petco tanks be drilled? I heard that some tanks are built with thin tempered glasses on all sides nowadays to make it lighter.

The glass holes overflows are very nice, you will need to drill the back of the tank. I have drilled many tanks from petco you just need to go slow.

It's been a few years (less than 3), but I've drilled several 40B bottom panes from Petco. It'd be worth checking before drilling, though. The general rule used to be most tanks 55 and under, but...

40b has no tempered glass http://www.aqueonproducts.com/assets/011/19107.pdf (so says specs, at least.)
I just used the Glass-Holes kit because it wasn't too much more than a DIY after buying the hole saw and materials (They throw candy in their packages too!). Wasn't too hard, just flipped it on it's side in the shower and sat the shower head on top of it to keep some running water on it, drill slow & don't put any downward pressure on the drill.

I built a DIY pvc overflow so I didn't have to drill, but i was adding a sump to a existing system. It has worked flawlessly for 5 months now.

Those glass holes kits look pretty nice. I watched the videos and it doesn't seem to tough to install,as long as you're careful drilling.

It's very quiet. I capped the vent and drilled a tiny hole in it.
My maxijet 400 is actually louder than my overflow.
