WTB: a chiller

I have been trying to avoid this but I am looking for a chiller. For some reason, I have the heat problem in the winter instead of in the summer. I will probably need a 1/3 or a 1/4 hp. Has anyone seen one for sale (used) anywhere? Of course, the cheaper the better. Let me know.

Rick, do you have your chiller up and running yet?
I almost ordered the same chiller but opted to go ahed and get a 1/4hp Tradewinds with a dual stage controller. I ordered mine yesterday. Gonna plumb it through the closed loop and do away with my OM Squirt . Mrs. Santa ordered a Tunze Wavebox as my XMAS gift. In fact it should be here this afternoon.

The chiller is plumbed in but not "completely" working. It was not chilling the water enough so I started looking around at the possibilities and found that the fan inside was not working. I called Pacific Coast (which has wonderful tech support) and they told me that was the cause of the chiller not working properly. So the new part will be here the first of next week. It should work out great.

In the meantime, I sent the guy I bought it from a "nice" email asking him what he thought I should do. It's going to cost me another $50 to get it fixed. He has yet to respond. I tried to make sure when I bought it that I asked if it was in perfect working condition, and he said "yes".

I guess thats what I get for buying used equipment.

If he doesn't want to do anything, I will probably write up a nice post in the Buyer/Seller Feedback section for him.

From what I have read on the PCI Chillers, the two most common problems with operation are fans going out and not having enough flow through the chiller. Seems the barb connectors for the plumbing slow the flow down a good bit.
If you have a problem with the connectors there is a thread or two here on RC where people fixed it using standard 1" pvc connectors with some extra teflon tape wrapped around the fittings. The threads on the chiller are not standard, I believe they are metric, but according to the folks who swapped out their fitings say the tape does the trick.

Yep, Mrs. Claus is good to me all year round actually. The wavebox was delivered this afternoon and I was given the option to hook it up tonight if I wanted. I passed on that one, decided I would wait till Xmas.

Mine came with a broken inlet. I had to had mill a pvc piece to get it to work. I was happy about that.

Stephen I am not sure what I am gonna do with it yet. I am gonna see how the chiller plumbing goes first. I may opt to turn it into a 2-way by changing out the drum and plugging 2 of the ports.
