BTW, only to be a little picky..... :) and not to offend anyone but......

There is a blue xenia out there......however, the photos above and the ones at OF (at least last I was there) are not xenia actually, but anthelia.

Doesn't make a huge difference if you like 'em, they're still a nice coral!! :)

I just see these mislabeled all the time.

You mean one of these?
cespitularia.jpg

This is a blue cespitularia. I think I got another pic of it in my gallery. It's small right now, but I'll have frags in the future.

The newest blue coral to hit the market currently are Electric Blue Anthelias. They have the color of the Blue Ces, but they're encrusting versus stalking.

Sharky's Reef just posted the blues in their Member Only section. Be sure to ask for your CMAS discount, if you're a member.

Thanks xeniamania, yes it actually isn't a xenia either--- so I guess I got caught on my own technicality!! :)

PP cloves are the most commonly used "common" name for anthelia

You guys got me,I just bought some purdy. It looked like whats in icenine2005's post.Im kind-a glad there not xenia because I dont like em growing in my tank.

I guess it is not blue xenia, but Blue Anthelia as xenaiamania pointed out. sorry to mislead anyone. I bought them labeled as blue xenia

I guess Blue Anthelia is pretty common now that I googled it

It's very common to have Anthelia's labelled as xenias since there is also a blue xenia that's encrusting. The Blue Cespitularia is often also labelled as a blue xenia because it grows and looks like a xenia, except it doesn't pulse whatsoever. There is a blue pulsing xenia, but it tends to border on purplish/charcoal because it's not iridescent. Due to all these variations, it's hard to distinguish one from another, unless you specialize in them...*ahem* :D
