WTB Frag/Store display tank

Think 40g breeder dimensions but bigger. Ideally I'd like to find a store display tank for sale that is shallow. Nothing taller than 15" and anywhere between 48" and 72" long.

I'm not trying to buy new, wanting to save some money, find a good deal on something used. If you have something or know someone selling something close to what I'm looking for feel free to email me with the specifics. Thanks,

hey fidel! i don't know of anything off hand, but hopefully something will pop up for ya.

i'll keep my eyes open...

Good to see you! The giant palys I got from you seem very happy. I have them about 8" from a 6 bulb t5 fixture and they don't even close up at night.

I'll keep my eyes open for something on the tank.

Any one know what they are doing with all those display tanks in the back of A.M.? It looked like they were for sell and exactly what you are looking for.

It's my understanding that they just bought them and they are for FW stock.

Dana, thanks for the heads up.

Engloid, glad the palys are doing well for you. Have they sprouted another head yet? Trying feeding them some brine shrimp once a week, it should help growth.

They haven't sprouted another head yet, but I think they have grown some. Every time I try feeding brind shrimp, they won't grab it. They wind up just closing up without grabbing any food. My Duncans will even eat clumps of brine worms, but the palys won't. Any tips on it?

Engloid, turn off your return pump and all your powerheads for 15 minutes and then feed. Try doing this at the same time of day every time you feed. Most of the time when they close up when trying to feed , but miss the food, there is too much current. HTH,

I have tried feeding them with tweezers even. It's as if their tentacles just won't grab anything. I have noticed that at some times there are just little balls around the polyps, and other times the balls have little tentacles sticking out of them. No matter what I do, they won't grab anything.

That's about a third of the total tanks they'll eventually have. There will be a total of 90 of the 25 gallon tanks set up for freshwater. I think they got those from the place that closed down recently in Oak Ridge. Now my son will have a very local place for freshwater purchases. :)

Hey fidel, Not sure what exactly your looking for. I have two acrylic systems i would sell. They are each 8ft long by 24" wide by 12" tall. there is a solid sheet of acrylic down the middle making two 8ft X12"X12" sections, then there are removable baffles you can slide in every 12" to make even smaller tanks. so you could have as few as 4 sections and as many as 16 12" cubes. Anyway, if that sounds at all interesting let me know i can probly find some pics.

Brian, I think that's going to be a bit too long for the room I have to put it in. Thanks for the heads up though,

I noticed the other day that the Giant Paly is growing another polyp, and has a little bump where I think another will be forming. I have it placed about 6" deep, with 6 t5's about 10" above it. They seem pretty happy.

My old ones still are doing nothing. They are totally white and all polyps have been closed for about 2-3 weeks now. All I can do is see if they can pull through.

Can you take the old ones out of the tank, are they on a plug still or a loose rock? If so, get 1 gallon of RO/DI water and use a spare heater to get it to the same temp as your display tank. Then add 4-5 drops of Iodine to the RO/DI water, mix it up and place old polyps in bucket for 4-5 minutes. Swish coral around, shake off excess water and return to tank.

Sometimes a medicated freshwater dip can do the trick and help kill whatever is doing your polyps in. If you have questions feel free to call me,
