Lost 4 of my 6 fish while moving :(

I haven't lost a coral in years but for some reason I have a TERRIBLE time getting fish past the 4 week qt period. I do regular small water changes and regular water quality checks.

So, I'm looking for anyone that is looking to get rid of healthy fish :)

Interested in:
Anthias
Hippo Tang
Royal Gramma
Sixline wrasse

misc other reef safe fish. They will be going to a good home, once my fish hit my display they are good...just struggle with the QT period for whatever reason I just can't wrap my head around.

Some people are fanatics about QT. IME, it seems like it does more harm than good (in terms of stress). I guess I've just had a streak of exceptional luck, but I've never had a 'sick' fish introduced that killed off the tank. I'm just very careful to pick out healthy guys from the LFS (clean appearance, swimming strongly, etc).

All just my experience, take it with 35ppt of salt :)

The problem with most peoples QTs is that they are too small. A hippo tang, for example, needs a 90+ gal tank - even in QT - or they get stressed from being cramped. You also need to provide hiding places (pieces of PVC do fine), and keeps the lights off.

The others you listed can probably get away in a 20L for the time period you are talking about.

Your Q.T. tank should be at 14 ppt (not sg) when you introduce your fish. This GREATLY reduces stress on fish. The fourth week should be spent raising the salinity of the Q.T. tank to display tank levels. Give this a try and you may be surprised.

There is a guy in Reading that has pretty healthy stuff. I was there about a year and a half ago. He sells it out of his basement reefandtails.com is his site. Might be worth a look.

I've taken the chance of not QT'ing and been burnt pretty bad twice before!! I just can't bring myself to introduce a non QT'd fish anymore especially if it comes from a pet store that receives tons and tons of fish and the water is all plumbed together.

Just so frustrating when I cycle a tank, check paraments, do water chanes, feed quality food etc etc and I loose probably 60% of the fish I buy. I've even used spare LR from my tank to help control parameters, spray painted the sides and backs of tanks to reduce stress, and throw in PVC for hiding.

If you want some pajama cardinals, I've got some I'd like to get rid of. I inherited them from a friend and I'm really not a fan of the way they look. The red eyes freak me out! I have 5 of them if you're interested.

Hey schmidt01, if CBehr doesn't want them, I'll take them. One of my 4 fish that I have took a dive 2 nights ago, and I'm starting to look for replacements.

Svynx, if you want them, you can have them! If CBehr wants them too, maybe you guys can split them up. They're very healthy... they just freak me out! :)

Thanks schmidt01 but I think I'll have to pass due to Blue Zoo shipping an order that was placed on hold....Have to figure out what I'm going to do with 2 fish that showed up at work today.
