WTB: Macro Algae

I'm setting up a refugium and would like to get some macro algae for it. I'm not too familiar with the different kinds of algae, but a few I've read up on and sound appealing are Halimeda and Chaetomorpha. I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks,
Jason

I actually have plenty in my fuge. I'd be happy to donate some to you when I get down there in about a month if you can wait.

yea i wouldnt even bother trying to buy it on here unless someone is close to you and is going to giv you some.. most fish stores carrey it and will give you a good size glob of it for like 3-4$

Stick with Chaetomorpha only. Halimeda is a calcium hog..and it grows way to slow to be of any benefit for nutrient reduction. Avoid caulerpas.

Yes, that's grape caulerpa most likely. There are many types..some on runners like racemosa{sp}, feather..etc. Caulerpas have toxins that play havoc with corals. They can also do what is known as "going sexual"..where they drop all the nutrients they have stored back into your tank all at once which can cause it to crash. The tank will cloud up milky white! Chaetomorpha is the easiest to grow, grows quick, good for exporting nutrients when you remove some of it, and does not have the same problems associated with caulerpas.

TY, waterfall1 !! how soon can I introduce it to my tank , currently a ten gallon three weeks old with livesand and about 8 pounds "cured" liverock. just a temp. fixx till 90 is up and running.
Oh , a skilter 400 converted to hang on back refugium ! ty in advance!
