Hi guys, I'm looking for a MH setup... I have a 175w now but wanted to add more. Just post whatever you have and we can start from there.
got cash - pickup preferred
thanks
What kind of setup do you have currently?
If you are using SE in a hood or canopy, its always a lot cheaper just to add a second ballast and socket/bracket. Its not that hard to do and should save you hundreds of dollars. You can move the existing socket to one side, and add another mh socket, which provides more even distribution of light.
Assuming your tank is 4 feet or longer, one bulb is insufficient, unless you hang it way high and use a 400watter, but then you either have a canopy height issue, or need to find a some way to keep the bulb from blinding people, especially kids looking upward.
But I feel you, a single 175, it just aint it enough for corals. If if you have a dual, and you use the new Iwasaki 15k bulbs I keep promoting, then you might be okay.
. . . just my very humble opinion.
