wtb - Ozone reactor

Hi all,

I'm looking to clear up my water and was hoping to find a used Ozone reactor for my 90 gallon.

Does anyone happen to have one that they aren't using?

Thanks!!

I use a UV sterilizer and have been very happy with it. A lot of reefer's prefer not to use one because of it killing pods and such but I still have plenty of pods. With seahorses a UV is especially helpful in controlling dangerous bacteria.

I was hoping to find a way to put it in my sump before the LR and return to avoid some of the 'podicide'. What do you think?

Never had one, not even exactly sure what lines they are usually attached to.

I read a bit and it seems that I need an 18w for my 90 gall with a 40 gall sump

When I worked for the lfs my boss usually put them in the return so that is where mine is. It depends on the type of UV as to the size. I have a 9 watt turbo twist on my tanks, total of 65 gallons. Since the water stays in contact with the light longer supposedly it can be a smaller unit.

Do you keep pods in your sump? Read a thread or two about the possibility of the filter killing pods on their way to the tank . Don't know myself

My aquarium system is different than most in that i have 2 display tanks sharing 1 sump. One display is a 36 reef the other is a 30 seahorse fuge with lots of macro algaes. Most of my pods are in my seahorse display fuge. I seeded it for about 6 months before I got ponies so that is where they are populating. A lot of the pods I have are very very small so the seahorses are not interested in hunting them. Even my banded pipefish would rather eat frozen mysis from the dish than hunt pods. I am not really sure how many make it past my honkin' big protein skimmer into the reef tank. It is rated for 180g and takes up the bulk of my 10g sump.

Wow, sounds like an awesome set up. I'm gonna put the filter on the return and hope for the best, I'll just add pods directly to the display if I must ...
