WTB purple finger leather

You can tell the first one isnt, I cant say for the second allthough it does look very healthy. But there are indeed purple colored finger leathers whether they be capnella, lemnalia, or sinularia out there. There not going to be as rich and vivid as a puple SPS coral but are just as beautifull in there own right in my own opinion.
Ive seen them personally myself as well, There usually a pale greyish purplish color when polyps are retracted and kinda purplish brown polyps with a greyish purple base when extended. I use to see them more frequently when starting this hobby but now the softy diversity has kinda gone down with everyone and there uncle going to stony corals.
The dyed corals are usually a very vivid color like bright yellows,purples and fuschia.

Consider yourself extremely lucky. Im almost certain the one I bought over 2 years ago was dyed. Dont even think it was in the tank for a year before it finally just withered and dyed:rolleye1:

Mine used to be purple before I switched to MH. Now it's brown. I'm going to move rocks around and make shade for it hoping to get the purple back.

I have a Maristar with 15k. I got new 50k bulbs at the WMC to try out. I'll be installing them next week.

Pico from what I heard most of the 20k bulbs made arent actually 20k, and in all reality there true kelvin is much higher,forgot the reason possibly industry standards dictated them to be named as 20k even though they maybe actually 30-60k!. But, thats just word on the streets, I have no references!And forgot who told me

True Justin. Sanjay Joshi had a chart at the WMC that he made experimenting with different brands of bulbs. Very interesting speaker.

So for corals to grow properly do they need to be under a 10K that is really rated at 20K or are they fine under bulbd listed as 20K but that are really 30-60K? So would fragmenteds bulb be more like a bulb listed around 20K if it is truly 50K? I would definitley like to look more into this.

But Pico, different corals will respond differently to various lighting intensities. For example; it would make sense that a coral typically found thriving in shallow waters wouldnt do as well with 20k as they would with 10k and vice versa; a coral thriving in deep waters would be able to utilize a 20k spectrum better than a 10k. Too many corals with too many different requirements to say one is better than the other;think of it more like "what corals would I like to collect and what spectrum would best emulate there natural environment ?"

Thanks Justin. I set-up my 55 to be able to keep almost anything I want from softies to sps. I am still working on adding more flow for sps though. I decided to use the 14K bulbs because I thought I could get a perfect median. I am not sure if the current usa bulbs are rated correctly though. I will be swithing over to a different brand in a few months here, still reaseaching which brand would be best for my application.
