WTB: return pump

So I posted the other night that I need an impeller shaft for my Quiet one 3000, I can order them for $22 plus shipping, and quite frankly I am not all that impressed with the quiet one pumps. The things are perfectly clean and for no reason at all they stop working, and when I shut off the return for a water change or whatever, 90% of the time it won't fire right up.

SO I figured I would see what you guys have sitting around out there and see if I could score a different better pump. Submersable and about 700-900 GPH

You looking for something in particular? I have a mag 12 and some Rio and Hyperflow pumps.

Well after I broke the Quiet one, I put in a spare Rio 2100 that I had. I know the Rios get a bad rap, but I'll tell you what I have run them for YEARS and have NEVER had an issue with them, I don't know why so many people dog them so much. I think I may just get another one and stick with what I know.

I have a rio in my sump and it works great so far i dont think their bad pumps

I have had rios as well.One i use now to mix my saltwater.The other i used to use until it burned up while mixing saltwater and turned the water black and stunk up the house.Luckily i was not useing in my tank or it would have killed the tank.This is why rio pumps get a bad rap.

Yeah, I took a couple of them and jammed the impellers and left them plugged in dry for 30 hours. I don't remember which one it was but I had to let one cool so the thermal switch would reset but the other I pulled out the plastic fork I used to jam it and it took off just fine. They obviously had issues at some point but I think they worked all that out long ago.

Yeah I'm sure they have the issues worked out by now. I have run them for years. I ran one for about 3 years , and thought I would "upgrade" and got the Queit one.....yeah, I'm not impressed with those.

I have been running a rio 2100 on my tank for the last 7 years and have had no problem with it. I also thought I would upgrade to a Quiet one 4000 but the only thing it gets used for now is to do water changes. pump water out od DT and the pump water out of salt tank to DT. NOT impressed with quiet ones will definantely keep using my Rio.
