WTMRAC Aquarium Dry Goods Garage Sale!

Coming Saturday September 9th starting at 9 AM (NO EARLYBIRDS!). Available will be lots of dry goods to include skimmers, lights, bulbs, pumps, and other desirable goods. End time will be at 6PM. This will be located in Memphis at 3194 Lammermuir Road, Memphis 38128, and a map to the house can be found at:

Can we bring things to sell as well as buy from others?

I can help after 2 if you need it.

In the past, when I've done joint garage sales with friends, we just have different colored price stickers for each person so the one cashing out can peel the sticker and put it on a sheet and write how much it sold for. We assign each shift a designated deal maker with the authority to accept/reject offers when that person isn't there. Then, we all split costs of advertising, signage etc. and have a bunch of fun with the sale.

I'll plan to be available Friday as needed to help with signs, stickers, set up or whatever .... Jay just let me know what is needed.

Then Saturday I'll come as soon as I can to help with the afternoon and the wrap up at the end. I'm good at talking people into buying stuff so can help move whatever is still around in the afternoon.

It's good if people plan ahead what they want to do with stuff that doesn't sell.

Jay, did you say you have a closed garage where things can be set up the day before to be ready for the morning? Let's think about if we need extra tables. I have one folding table I can bring.

Barrett, are we putting an ad in the paper? We can probably put up signs at the Pet Stores, too. This is a cool and unique idea. I've seen yard sales, but has anyone ever seen a fish specific yard sale? Maybe Dave ... a'hem ... our sponsors would let us put something up in the store and we could pass out coupons or flyers or some kind of promotion for the store? Just an idea.

Yes, my garage is enclosed and secure. People are welcomed to come the evening before to drop stuff off. I have two card tables too.

Bright and early Sat. am I'll have the coffee pot working overtime, I'll buy lots of sodas and ice, and Papa John's is moments away!

Can we get a tentative list of items that people will want to sell? If we can collate a list of specific items, perhaps even with the asking prices, and post that list on the forums of the nearby regions, that might get people to drive a bit further than they would otherwise. Barrett, how about a new thread for this purpose?

I wonder if the local fish stores would allow us to post an announcement of the sale?

I have posted in the other regional forums about the sale. I was hesitant about posting a list just because theres gonna be a LOT of stuff. I kept it general with "lighting, pumps, skimmers..." but if everyone would care to send me a list of your wares I'll be happy to post it.
And it was nice to meet the better half! How'd you wrangle her? I'm assuming theres bribery involved :lol2:

Friday's particularly busy for me, so if you plan to drop things off then please wait until 7 PM or later. We'll be storing the items in my garage... except for Andy, who laughed at my empty garage! (he hasn't seen what's in my barn).


Can someone make posters for the neighborhood? 3 would be fine, 4 would be even better! Again the address is 3194 Lammermuir Rd. Better wait until you bring the posters to see which direction to draw the "arrow"! Thanks!

I can pick up some posterboard tomorrow if no one else has. If I can't get the signs made, I can at least send poster board and permanent markers.

I need to find someone to hook up with tomorrow to send my stuff with because I can't deliver after 7 and really need to take care of it earlier if I can.

I have a Fluval 104 filter, never opened; a PC hood fixture/top from a 24 g Aquapod never used; an Aqua C Remora skimmer used but in good shape; a Coral life 20" 28w Aqualight PC fixture (goes perfect over a 10 gallon for quick back up or quarantine) brand new ..... and probably some little stuff.

I have a really old 22 gallon flat back hex that needs to be siliconed with a matching stand that I was thinking of bringing, but that's probably too big to send and not worth the trouble. Some day I'll get that siliconed .......

Alright yall. Here's the game plan. We'll have colored stickers for everyone's items. We might have to initial if theres more people than colors. Anyway, when you bring your items YOU will need to tag them with the price. If selling by proxy be sure to work out the prices and negotiable prices before hand. I will have a bank of $100 in various change and we'll have to designate a "casheer" to maintain the "bank" and keep a logbook of who's item sold, and what it sold for. Ideally the sticker will be peeled from the item and stuck on a sheet with the selling price. At the end we'll go through and divy up the money accordingly. Sound like a plan?
