WTT: Red Sea Pulsing Xenia

It's not doing well in my tank. I've had it for a good 6 months and it started out pretty good. It was 3 stalks then became 5 within weeks but then I managed to lower my nitrates to 0 and it stopped. Actually I lost one stalk already and I think another one is on the way. I'm not sure if one of my corals is stinging it, because the only thing that's close to it is my kenya tree which I believe doesn't sting at all. I want it to go to a better home so if anyone wants to trade let me know.

wow that picture looks strang. You have a Kenya tree and what looks like a Candy Cane doing really well and just a few stalks of Xenia are doing bad. I would get a red flash light and take a look at night it seems like you have one small area thats not doing well.

I did the flashlight thing last night, and I did saw some amphipods cruising around it. I thought amphipods doesn't hurt anything?

I was thinking about getting a sixline wrasse today, but another guy here in rc had the same problem. But his was with his zoos and he said that they started attacking because the tank was underfed so the pods looked for other places to get food.

BTW i saw the pods munching on my acro the other day and both small frags are dead now. I caught one yesterday and tried to make sure if its really amphipod and it was.

I have 6line, lots if zoas and 6-7 Xenias.

1. If you get 6line - say goodbye to pods. this can be good since pods distract zoas (not eat, just distract). I made a pile of shells in the back, it's not visible from the front but pods still live there.

2. Xenia is tricky sometimes. In other tanks in our office it is not doing great. In my tank it overtook 1/3 of the tank. I think it is coz I don't skim alot.

What's your PH, and water quality in general? If it's too clean, or PH is low, Xenia doesn't do so hot. Heat is another factor, if it's too hot(82+), Xenia won't do well either.

waht would you like to trade? maybe some other xenias, i ahve the other colors. pm me for pics. i have tons of stuff for trade.

What a day!

I'll try to make this short. My day started by getting into a car accident on the way to my friends house to help move. When I got home my xenia looked worse and another stalk is looking dark. So I got worried and went to my lfs and got a sixline wrasse. I put him in and I started to feel better because I saw him ate his first pod (in my tank). Well that didn't last for long because I started having microbubble problems that were coming out of my canister filter, so I cleaned the whole thing and hoping that fixed it. So after setting the filter back up I left for an hour and when I came back I saw that one my powerhead wasn't working, well that's because my sixline wrasse got stuck in it. Now I think the pods are roaming around my other corals also.

I know, hopefully things will be better today. Well I think the pods are eating out my green star polyps now because last night I took out the xenia and put in my quarantine tank, then before I went to bed I saw the pods were roaming around by the green star polyps. Well today more than half of the gsp are not opening. I'm seriously getting tired of this, I should've gotten a mandarin instead of sixline. I need to wait to get some money before I can buy mandarin, so maybe this week coming up. I'm just worried that more corals will get damaged. It's still early and maybe the gsp will open up later on. I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks for the kind words people

2 shifting starfishes wiped nearly wiped out my population of pods, this was before I knew that they love pods.

I bought a mandarin, finally, and he's about 2.5 inches long. He's not moving right now though. He's just on one spot and hasn't swam around yet. Here's a picture of him. Also I'm attaching a picture of a pod in action eating my acro. This was the first coral they attacked.
