Hey all here are some of my original posts when I was seeking help a stocking questions:
So anyways everyone, lt's say I am planning on keeping a blog/forum thread on my new tank. This is where I want to start. I will try to get some photos up by tomorrow. Right now, my tank is nothing more than a Display full of un-arranged rocks and sand with a sump and an empty Fuge.
Anyone want to give me their suggestions on livestock for this aggressive reef? I would appreciate it.
Hey snorvich,
I am in the process of re-setting up my tank after I moved. I want to start a predator heavy reef tank. I have a 240g display with 20g fuge and 40g sump. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind giving me some suggestions and maybe a little information on the fish my wife and I would really like to have in the tank. And if you believe they would all be compatable with each other.
5 - Schooling Bannerfish (False Moorish Idols)
1 - Indigo Hamlet
1 - Snowflake Moray Eel
1 - Antennata Lionfish
A Lionfish and an Eel are a must have for the tank. My wife would really like to have a puffer of some sort and the only one she has found and liked was a Papuan Toby. I am in the process of attempting to convince her into not getting a puffer as they will eat the coral, rocks and fins of the other fish. Coral will be Acropora and Monti heavy with at least one Ricordea Farm. We will not have any inverts in the tank. There are not that many fish selected yet either and to help with algea I was thinking of having a Sailfin Tang and Yellow Bellied Hippo Tang. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

I forgot to give you my tank's dimensions. It is 96" x 24" x 24". Also, thought knowledge regarding my water-flow may also limit or change some of your suggestions. I use a Pondmaster 1800 as my return pump and to mimic the return flow on the opposite side of the tank I have a JBJ 2400 with a "Y" attached it. The general water flow is supplied by three Sicces though, 2 Sicce Voyager 4s and 1 Voyager 3. The Voyager 3 (1200gph) is located in the center back wall facing forward at a slight upward direct with its diffuser dialed slightly (one turn) to the right. The two Voyager 4s (1600gph) are each half way between the Voyager 3 and the Overflow box on each side with the same set-up as the Voyager 3. All three are hooked up to the Sicce Wave Surfer alternating between the Voyager 3 and then both Voyager 4s every 45 seconds. The return and JBJ pump are both mounted on the overflow boxes facing each other.
Sorry, but I do not provide analysis of aggressive fish tanks. Best resource for this is the Aggressive Fish Forum
