Anyone use this, just got it and cant seem to figure the software out, I keep getting "Could not generate profile because one or more images have unsupported illuminants."

D200 NEF ->DNG via Adobe DNG Converter ->X-rite software or Lightroom(neither will generate a profile)

Trying to use it to get the colors and WB right when I take pictures of my corals/fish..
Since it is not waterproof I am taping it to the backside of the aquarium and shooting it straight on..
I am colorblind so I have to use some kind of crutch, thought this one would be an easy solution..
Any suggestions??

Try it without converting to DNG.

It has to be in .DNG, tried doing another picture of the checker under normal light and it generates the profile just fine, guess the mostly blue light is confusing it..

Oh well, $65 for another fail on the photo front..

Going to try tomorrow using the lens cap and set a custom WB in camera and see if it will generate a profile that way..

Looked at some photos that were taken with a Cannon using the in-camera autoWB, they looked fine before being touched up (WB wise), emailed the guy to see what camera he used.
If Cannon will get them that close with autoWB I may be getting a new Cannon and macro in January, instead of a Nikon and macro...

Try using a flash. Use the one on the camera and keep the end of the lens almost touching the glass.

I will try the flash tomorrow, also going to try the WB and turning the blues on my kessil down..
Worst case I can get a remote flash or light to clamp over the tank when I take pictures..
Which would be better a flash setup or a light??

I have this.

It's the Nikon R1. Your D200 has the Remote Commander built into it that controls it.

The tripods and tubes don't come with the set, but a lot more stuff does. I set them above the water when taking pics.

If you haven't seen my bug pics, do a search and look at them. I normally have them set up like the pic on Amazon when shooting most of them. They have a lot of applications.
